The Clean Technology Centre has been successful in a proposal for funding to the European Union Erasmus+ Programme to develop and implement a training programme of environmental skills for firefighters. The other Irish partner in the project is the Cork City Fire Brigade.

The partnership contains two partners with environmental and training experience and knowledge and six fire rescue services from six EU countries. The full partnership comprises:

The execution of the project will last 36 months (November 2020 to October 2023) and will include six major activites or stages:

Activity 1: Development

Development of e-learning content for firefighters on how to make their job more environmentally sustainable.

Activity 2: Translation

Translation of e-learning content from English to all the languages in the partnership.

Activity 3: Initial Testing

Testing the e-learning platform with firefighters from all the countries represented in the project partnership.

Activity 4: Further development

Based on the results from the testing with firefighters, any necessary improvements on the e-learning content.

Activity 5: Implementation

E-learning platform implemented with firefighters from all the countries represented in the project partnership.

Activity 6: Final Development

Based on the results from the second testing with firefighters, further enhancement of the e-learning content.

Activity 7: Translation

Translation of the final version of the e-learning platform from English to all the languages in the partnership.

Activity 8: Dissemination

Dissemination of the project and the training course in each partner Member State
