Large Chinese Delegation Hosted by CTC

As part of its ongoing work in China under the Asia-Invest Programme, CTC has hosted a large and prestigious Chinese delegation to Ireland and Cork Institute of Technology. 23 Chinese officials, academics and representatives of environmental organisations from 11 provinces visited Ireland and spent time at the Environmental Protection Agency in Wexford and the Clean Technology Centre in Cork.  The delegation was received by Michael Delaney, Vice President and Head of Development at CIT who formally welcomed the group.

The site visits were managed by Colum Gibson and the group were given presentations about the CTC and its role in Ireland from Dermot Cunningham and Tadhg Coakley. The group was also given a day’s briefing on the Green Hospitality Award showing its successes and possible replicabilty in China from James Hogan, CTC.

The group consisted of leading people from several important agencies and centres in China, including The Administrative Centre for China’s Agenda 21, the China Eco-efficiency Research Center, Yunnan Institute of Environmental Science,  Shaanxi Productivity Promotion Center, Qinghai Research and Design Institute of Environmental Sciences,  School of Environment, Guangxi University,  Inner Mongolia Rural and Social Development Centre, Anhui Productivity Promotion Center among others.
