New CTC waste characterisation study

CTC have been awarded a joint contract with RPS to perform a National Characterisation of the Municipal Waste Streams in Ireland.

CTC will, in the main, be dealing with the commercial and industrial characterisations. This work follows on from a similar EPA study in 2004. Effective waste planning requires accurate and up to date information on the composition of waste and this is the underlying driver for this work. In addition the EU Regulation on Waste Statistics (2150/2002) is now in force and this places a requirement on all Member States to harmonise and synchronise waste reporting in accordance with the Regulation.

This study will gather existing municipal waste composition data, but also deliver an update of the Irish waste composition profile.
