The Clean Technology Centre (CTC) conducted an in-depth carbon footprint analysis for Laya Healthcare in 2022, covering its two main offices in Cork and Dublin. The project focused on quantifying Scope 1 emissions from direct fuel use, Scope 2 emissions from energy purchases and selected Scope 3 emissions, including purchased goods, waste, and business travel. This detailed assessment followed international standards (GHG Protocol and ISO 14064), ensuring an accurate evaluation of the company’s environmental impact.
CTC has a comprehensive data collection process, gathering information from various sources, such as utility bills, internal records, fleet data, and procurement details.
Based on the quantification findings, CTC proposed practical recommendations to help Laya Healthcare incorporate sustainability actions into its daily operations to reduce its emissions. Furthermore, CTC recommended setting up a centralised system to track resource consumption and emissions data, allowing for more efficient monitoring and reporting.
CTC’s expertise in carbon management not only gave Laya Healthcare a clear understanding of its environmental impact but also set the stage for achieving meaningful reductions in line with its long-term sustainability goals.
