The Clean Technology Centre manages the Stop Food Waste Programme on behalf of the EPA and will be busy this summer with a plethora of events and activities. Here are just some:
17th June, Limerick Garden Festival. This will take place 11am – 5pm at Limerick Milk Market, Cornmarket Row, Limerick. Stop Food Waste will host a stall providing attendees with an introduction to food waste reduction and composting. Drop by with your composting queries.
23rd June, Grand Opening of Composting Demo Site, Rathfarnham. The Dublin Area Master Composter course will be coming to an end with the grand opening of their custom-built, composting demonstration site. The event will be from 2pm – 4pm in Pearse Museum, Rathfarnam.
14-15 July, Rose Festival, Raheny. Stop Food Waste will take part in the annual Rose Festival in St Anne’s Park, Raheny on Saturday July 14th and Sunday July 15th 10am – 6pm each day. 14th July, Official Opening of Home Composting Demonstration Site, Portlaw, Co. Waterford. The official opening of the home composting demonstration site at Clodiagh House in Co. Waterford will take place on Saturday July 14th at 7pm. See you there!
2nd – 7th August, Ballygar Carnival, Co. Galway. At the Fair Day held on the Bank Holiday Monday, Ballygar Tidy Towns volunteers will hold a cake sale, and host stalls on environmental themes of waste and composting. Drop by and pick up some information booklets and handy kitchen measures supplied by Stop Food Waste. For more information, see the Festival Facebook page.
18th August, Cappamore Show, Co. Limerick. This will be held at the Showgrounds in Ballyvoreen, Cappamore. 26th August,Voxpro Urban Garden Festival, Mahon, Cork. The theme of the festival on the Voxpro site is “self-sufficiency in smaller urban spaces”. This day-long event includes: talks, workshops, demonstrations, and more. Stop Food Waste will take part with advice on food waste prevention and all you need to know about composting. Entry costs €3 per person. Under 12s go free. Find out more about the event here.

27th August, Community Food Initiative, North Cork. The Avondhu Blackwater Partnership team up with local groups to promote healthy eating in the community on Monday August 27th 6pm to 8pm at Glanworth Community Hall.
