The Clean Technology Centre, with AEA Energy and Environment, has been commissioned by the Environmental Protection Agency to carry out a study: Inventories of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Ireland: 1990 and 1995-2005.
This study will inform the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and other stakeholders regarding compliance with international reporting obligations. The main study objective is to compile consistent emission inventories for a range of POPs for the years 1990 and 1995-2005.
Additionally, procedures will be recommended to EPA on how the time-series of emissions can be developed into the future, taking account of the range and nature of sources identified and the options for developing data sources on emissions or activities, perhaps through amendments to existing regulatory systems.
The project will commence in November 2007 and conlude in February, 2008.
